Donkeys

Billy Bean
Grey/brown gelding - Born 1993
In 2004 he came from a farm park in Wales which had lost all their livestock during the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001. As he missed all the attention from the visitors he was beginning to misbehave and becoming quite a handful, therefore we were asked to take him in. Sasha is now his best buddy.

Betsy
Light brown. Betsy came to us October 2015 with her sister Dotty, they were from a farm just over the river Tamar in Devon. They had been on the farm for a number of years with a couple of different owners. On the last change of ownership the new landowners tried to care for them for over a year but found it difficult so asked us to take them in.

Year of Birth: 2012

Paddy
Born 2002 Paddy is one of four boys who came to the park in March 2008 from a Lady in North Devon who has rescued many different equines over the years. She rescued the boys from inner city Dublin when they were 6 months old. Unfortunately this lovely kind lady has gone down with severe arthritis and was struggling with the day to day demands of four young strong donkeys. After much thought, she asked us to take them in. She visits regularly and we update her on their progress.

She came to the park on the 1st August 2011 from a local lady who rescued her from market to prevent her being bred from. Lily has severe problems with her hind legs as her knee joints haven’t developed properly. This was caused by people over breeding to produce smaller and smaller Shetlands
